As a parent of a young child, there are various government funding options which may help you with childcare costs. The childcarechoices website provides information on the funding initiatives as well as eligibility criteria. Some additional summary information is provided here for your convenience. Please note that these are all government initiatives and are subject to change. Whilst we aim to provide accurate information, we do not guarantee that the information below is the latest available and therefore you do need to check the relevant links for the most up to date information.
All children are entitled to government EYE funding from the term after their 3rd birthday until they go to school. The funding is available for up to 15 hours per week over 38 weeks of the year. Full details are available from Hampshire County Council on the EYE Funding web page.
For families where both parents (or the sole parent in single parent families) work, there is funding available for an additional 15 hours each week so you can claim funding for a total of up to 30 hours per week for a 38 week year. Full details may be found on this page.
If your income is below a certain threshold, your child may be entitled to Funded Early Education for Two year olds (FEET). This works in much the same way as the 3 & 4 Year old EYE funding above, but is available from the term after your child’s birthday for children whose parents meet certain financial criteria or where the child has certain additional needs. The details and criteria for this funding can be found on Hampshire County Council’s 2 Year Old Funding page.
